A man from Bhainsali village in the Churu district of Rajasthan was arrested for allegedly murdering his two sons and his grandmother after suspecting that they were not his children, Rajasthan Police said on Tuesday. As per the report of Deccan Herald, a man named Bhupi Singh allegedly killed his sons–Garvit (4) and Anurag (8) on February 13 and his elderly grandmother on January 31.
In a statement given by the Churu Superintendent of Police, Jai Yadav, the killings were executed through poisoning. The alleged accused is a certified pharmacist and has done a course in nursing.
After the strict interrogation of Bhup Singh, the alleged accused revealed that he suspected that Garvit and Anurag were not his children and hence he planned to murder them. The investigation started after these three suspicious deaths were recorded in the same house within a month. The situation took a surprising turn after a multiple fire broke out in the house after the series of deaths. People assumed the presence of black magic in the house and started sympathising with the accused.
When the fire started breaking out repeatedly anywhere in the house, people took out all the household items and kept them outside. The police installed CCTV in the house to find out the cause of the fire, but this time, the animal enclosure caught fire instead of the house. After a few days, the DVR installed for recording also burnt to ashes. This led police to investigate further as they thought of it as no mere coincidence.
To know about the reason for death, police exhumed the buried body of a deceased child, Garvit, and carried out its post-mortem. The viscera of the body were sent to the forensic laboratory for testing. Police said Garvit’s viscera report found traces of drugs, which led to Bhup Singh’s arrest. As per reports, Bhupi Singh initially didn’t confess to these crimes but after strict interrogation, he revealed the whole truth.
Killing the elderly grandmother was not on his list but to avoid suspicion of murdering his children, he decided to kill the grandmother first, Bhupi Singh reportedly revealed during interrogation. The accused allegedly poisoned the grandmother’s cough medicine to kill her. After killing his children and grandmother, he decided to set the house on fire to gain sympathy from the villagers. The family had a composition of seven members but after these deaths, the family size has been reduced to only four members. Bhupi Singh, his wife–Maneka, grandfather–Hari Singha and mother–Santosh.
