Twiggy, an eastern grey squirrel, has stirred headlines for performing water skiing at the Mall of America, United States. For those who don’t know, water skiing is a high-speed surface water sport where a skier is towed at great speeds behind a powerboat. A video of this spectacle has gone viral on Twitter.

The video shows the adorable squirrel wearing a swimsuit and riding a small remote-controlled boat by balancing its feet on it. The onlookers are seen capturing this incident on the cameras and are quite fascinated by it. One of the photographers is seen taking a close-up shot of Twiggy with the help of a camera supported by a stabiliser.

A person in the pool, Twiggy’s owner, slightly pushes this squirrel probably to provide her boat more speed in the skiing process. The video concludes with the eastern grey squirrel completing the skiing without losing balance in the entire run. This is a testament to the fact that Twiggy has been thoroughly trained in the water sport. This clip has racked up a staggering 9.8 million views.

Social media users came up with a slew of interesting reactions to this clip. One of them tweeted, “Best part, he works for peanuts.” This is because peanuts comprise the staple diet of the squirrels.

Another tweeted, “When you realise a literal squirrel will have more skill than you could ever imagine having.”

Twiggy, Inc. is a family business, and the current Twiggy is the fourth squirrel with the moniker to be taught how to water ski by the Florida couple Toni Marie Tedesco, 36, and her husband, Chuck Best Jr, 41. In an interview with the Caters News, Toni said that her husband Chuck has been raised doing this. According to Toni, her husband’s parents were the ones who started Twiggy the Water-Skiing Squirrel. “For myself, I have been doing this for two years”, the 36-year-old woman said.

Chuck Best Jr’s parents Chuck Best Sr. and Lou Ann Best rescued the original Twiggy in 1978 after the animal was displaced from her nest by a hurricane.
