Despite her willingness to help, Roxberry stated that she did not want to feel obligated to provide financial support to her Tinder match.
A 29-year-old woman named Kendra Roxberry from Pittsburgh decided to end her relationship with a man named Josh, whom she had met on Tinder. This decision came after Josh requested financial assistance for his electricity bill. Despite dating for several months, Kendra was surprised by Josh’s request, particularly since she had treated him to an expensive seafood dinner just a week prior. Roxberry found Josh’s plea for $376 (approximately Rs. 31,000) unexpected and incompatible with her expectations for their relationship.
She felt that this indicated a lack of financial responsibility on Josh’s part. “I figured it wouldn’t be an issue since I paid for your seafood boil lol,” Josh reportedly wrote in the text message.
In response, Roxberry decided to end the relationship, stating, “Lol … really? I’m not sure this is going to work out. Good luck!” She then blocked Josh’s number, informed Kennedy News.
Speaking to Kennedy News, Roxberry expressed her disappointment, saying, “I had high expectations for the relationship as things were moving quite well.” She described Josh as handsome, smart, and kind, and felt that they had a good connection.
However, she also emphasised that she was not using Josh for his money and was willing to contribute financially to the relationship. She explained, “I feel like we were even. I wasn’t using him for his money and expecting him to pay for everything. I enjoyed his company and would pay for things too.”
Despite her willingness to help, Roxberry stated that she did not want to feel obligated to provide financial support. She said, “I wish he would have approached it in a different way rather than it being something he expected me to do.”
Roxberry admitted that the experience saddened her but was grateful that she recognised the red flags early on.
