The latest episode of the WWE NXT unfolded with a star-studded roster on October 10. Some legends of the wrestling circuit– The Undertaker, John Cena, Asuka and LA Knight– attended the show, with Cody Rhodes taking the chair of General Manager as a special guest. Upon his arrival inside the ring, Rhodes made a few enthralling announcements about WWE. He promised a Men’s Breakout Tournament following the conclusion of the Women’s competition.
Looking at the in-ring actions, Ilja Dragunov defended his NXT Championship against Dominik Mysterio, while Asuka challenged Roxanne Perez for a single fight. A pub brawl saw The Brawling Brutes triumphing over Gallus. In the other fights, Lola Vice defeated Dani Palmer and Carmelo Hayes got the better of Bron Breakker.
Asuka vs Roxanne Perez:
Roxanne Perez initially had the upper hand and got an early takedown. Asuka, however, managed to dodge the attack, diving off the ring. She returned with a dropkick and a hip attack before launching a cross-body on her opponent. Asuka then tried to use her iconic Lock-in but failed in her attempt. She ultimately got the job done with a big kick.
The Brawling Brutes & Tyler Bate vs Gallus:
Being a pub brawl, the match featured a number of objects including trashcans and bowling balls. Butch suffered an injury early on before receiving some brutal treatment from the opposition team. He then took a dive outside before Ridge and Bate could attack him with tandem aeroplane spins. Ridge then brought a table inside the ring, while Bate hit Joe’s head with a mug. With the help of Bate, the Brutes then launched a triple powerbomb on Joe to pick up the victory.
NXT Championship match:
Ilja Dragunov made a roaring start but a distraction from Rhea Ripley helped Dominik Mysterio make a comeback. The champion came up with a big suplex before attempting some huge chops. Dragunov then got a takedown with the flying forearm before securing the win with the Torpedo Moskau.
Dani Palmer vs Lola Vice:
Palmer started off the fight on a promising note. Both wrestlers traded holds before Lola Vice launched a crossbody from the top rope. Palmer returned to the contest with some big dropkicks. Vice countered with a triangle lock and knocked out Palmer with a brutal kick to the head.
Carmelo Hayes vs Bron Breakker:
The match kicked off when Cena and Heyman were standing at ringside. Breakker took early control by using a gutbuster. Carmelo Hayes bounced back with some strikes before going for a modified face-buster. Solo Sikoa tried to cause interference but was stopped by Cena. Hayes finally won the fight with the nothing-but-net.
