Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has joined forces with CHARGE ZONE to ramp up the electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in India.

This strategic move aligns with the Government of India’s push for EV adoption. Under the new agreement, CHARGE ZONE will set up DC 60 kW fast chargers at 100 Hyundai dealerships nationwide.

The MoU was signed by Mr. Jae Wan Ryu from Hyundai and Mr. Kartikey Hariyani from CHARGE ZONE at Hyundai’s headquarters in Gurugram. The initiative aims to expand public EV charging options, making it easier for drivers to travel both within and between cities.

Mr. Ryu emphasized the importance of enhancing the EV charging network to reduce range anxiety and boost EV adoption. “All EV users (Hyundai & Non-Hyundai) will benefit from the augmented network of DC fast charging stations, accessible through the ‘myHyundai’ app or through the ‘CHARGE ZONE’ app. Such strategic alliances are crucial for accelerating the adoption of electric mobility solutions by customers and achieving India’s carbon neutrality goals,” he said. The new chargers will be accessible via the ‘myHyundai’ app and the ‘CHARGE ZONE’ app.

Currently, Hyundai has 19 dealerships with DC 60 kW fast chargers. With this new partnership, they plan to add 100 more stations at their dealerships, offering 24/7 customer support.

HMIL’s broader EV strategy includes installing DC 180 kW and DC 60 kW chargers across India, with additional fast-charging stations in key cities and highways. The ‘EV Charge’ system on the ‘myHyundai’ app will allow users to find charging points, book slots, and make payments, integrating both Hyundai and third-party chargers.
