Former Bangladesh captain and star allrounder Shakib Al Hasan has been fined 10 per cent of his match fee by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for breaching its code of conduct during the recent Rawalpindi Test against Pakistan. Shakib threw the ball at Pakistan batter Mohammad Rizwan in frustration during the play on Day 5 of the first Test which Bangladesh went on to win by 10 wickets.

Shakib seemed looked frustrated after having to pull out midway through his run-up having realised Rizwan wasn’t yet ready. He threw the ball towards the wicketkeeper as it crossed over the batter’s head.
The on-field umpire Richard Kettleborough had a word with Shakib about the incident.
Besides the match fee, Shakib has also been handed a demerit point for the offense.
As per an ICC release, the match referee penalised Shakib in accordance with “Article 2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “throwing a ball (or any other item of cricket equipment such as a water bottle) at or near a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other third person in an inappropriate and/or dangerous manner during an International Match.”
Shakib took four wickets in the match including three in Pakistan’s second innings as the host suffered a batting collapse to be bowled out for 146 in 55.5 overs leaving Bangladesh just 30 runs to win the match which they achieved in 6.3 overs for a historic 10-wicket win.
Veteran wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim was chosen player-of-the-match for scoring 191 off 341. He donated the prize money to help those affected by the recent floods in Bangladesh.
“This is one of my finest (innings) so far, because we haven’t done that well overseas. Doing well for my country inspires me. I want to make an announcement, want to donate my prize money as there’s been a flood back in Bangladesh,” Rahim said.
The second Test will start from August 30 at the same venue.
