The All India Research Scholars Association praised the decision to extend the deadline for submitting the documents for their upgrades, extensions or continuations

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has deferred the deadline for the submission of documents for CSIR fellowship upgradation, extension, and continuation. The decision comes after the student’s urged the council to reconsider the termination of the fellowship of 300 PhD scholars.

According to Careers360, the CSIR stated that the competent authority has decided to give Research Fellows and Associates whose assessment dates fall between March 1, 2020 and February 29, 2024, an extension until August 31, 2024, to submit their documentation regarding their upgrades, extensions, or continuations, as applicable.

The council further stated that until August 31, 2024, applications from such Research Fellows and Associates, together with the necessary paperwork for their upgrades, extensions, or continuations, as applicable, will be accepted.

A delay in submitting the annual progress report to the CSIR-Human Resource Development Group (HRDG) resulted in the cancellation of the CSIR fellowship for almost 300 scholars.

They also stated that the timely decision made by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research will give many researchers the much-needed respite and assistance they require to carry on with their important contributions to science without causing undue disturbance.
