Chelsea Target Nottingham Forest's Murillo In Summer Transfer Window, Defender 'Relaxed' Despite 'Buzz Of Interests'
According to reports, Chelsea are interested in signing Nottingham Forest defender Murillo this summer to strengthen the backline and the Blues have reportedly offered two players and an additional amount of money to secure Murillo’s signing.

Chelsea are expected to make a huge modification to the squad this summer following a disastrous Premier League season. Since a Todd Boehly-led consortium took over in May 2022, the London-based club has spent over £1 billion in the transfer market but has yet to see the results.

According to media reports, Chelsea are interested in signing Nottingham Forest defender Murillo this summer to strengthen the backline. The Brazilian star has also come under the radar of two other English clubs, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

Some Brazilian outlets have claimed that Nottingham Forest are well aware of Chelsea’s interest and are currently evaluating the proposal. The Blues have reportedly offered “two players and an additional amount of money” to secure Murillo’s signing. The footballer recently addressed the topic during an interaction on the Benja Me Mucho podcast.

According to Murillo, he dreamt of moving to a big club one day when he joined Nottingham Forest from Corinthians last summer, agreeing to a £15m deal. When asked about Chelsea’s interest, Murillo said, “I don’t know if it’s £70m, but I know there was a buzz of interest. So, I don’t know exactly how much the amount is, but I know there was interest,” as quoted by Football365.

“I had the dream of playing in the Premier League and I had that thought. I thought: ‘I’ll go to Nottingham Forest, have a good year and then I’ll go to a big club’. I had that in my head,” he added.

Murillo further referred to Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool as the clubs he would prefer to join this summer. “I’d choose Manchester City but it would be more difficult for me to be a regular starter given the players they have in their squad. There’s Arsenal as well, who are fighting for the Premier League title. I wouldn’t discard Liverpool either, it would be a good opportunity for me to show my football in a big club,” the 22-year-old defender said.

As the summer transfer window opens next month, Murillo will now undergo pre-season training with Nottingham Forest before deciding on his future. “There might be some discussions on whether I’ll stay or not so there’s a lot of things to happen still but I’m relaxed,” he said.

Chelsea will be desperate to rope in a defender to replace Thiago Silva, who left the club at the end of the last season. The Blues already have Tosin Adarabioyo, Omari Kellyman, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Marc Guiu for the next campaign.
