Chilean footballer Arturo Vidal’s extravagant unveiling at Colo Colo has taken the football world by surprise. Vidal received a King’s welcome in Chile, during his presentation at his boyhood club. Needless to say, the ceremony was far from subtle and raised a few eyebrows. TNT Sports has now uploaded a post on platform X along with a clip of Vidal’s presentation and wrote, “Arturo Vidal’s unveiling at his new club in Chile just got crazier and crazier.”

In the video, the footballer can be seen arriving at the stadium in a helicopter. He then waves towards the fans as he gets down before a knight comes to attend him. He then toured the pitch on a horse, wearing a crown and dawning a sword in front of nearly 35,000 fans. Several fans felt that the celebrations were a little overblown as one wrote, “A little over the top lol”.

“You’ve gone too far with these transfer stories now, The helicopter is fair enough but dressing up as a king on a horse while carrying a sword as well? It’s simply too much,” wrote another.

One fan was just awed at what was going on in Chile. He said, “What the hell is going on here, why have I just witnessed Vidal arrive like some cast member for Yellowstone.”

Another user joked that it was the same reaction that the user got whenever he went to work. “Crazy? I get this every morning when I go to work,” the person said.

“South America appear to have the best fans. The noise is always incredible,” added one more.

Vidal is one of the biggest players in Chile’s history. He was a part of the nation’s golden era alongside forward Alexis Sanchez. That team also had other star names including the likes of defensive midfielder Gary Medes and goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.

He won two Copa America titles with his country beating Lionel Messi’s Argentina in the final on both occasions. Vidal has also played for some of the biggest teams in European football, including the likes of Juventus, Bayern Munich and Barcelona. His final European stint was with Serie A side Inter Milan from 2020 to 2022.

Vidal then left for Brazilian side Flamengo for the 2022-23 season and then Athletico Paranaense in 2023-24. The Chilean has now made a return to his boyhood club after 17 years. In his years away from Chile, Vidal has managed to bag a ton of silverware. He won league titles in three of the top-five European leagues while making the UEFA Champions League final once.
