Rooney double sees ManU through

New Delhi: Wayne Rooney came off the bench to score twice as Manchester United beat Portsmouth 2-1 in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday.

United dominated the game, but Portsmouth goalkeeper David James kept his team in the fray with some fine saves.

Rooney came off the bench and in the 77th minute, a flowing move from Manchester United - Ryan Giggs leaves his marker on the left flank and crosses in for Rooney to thump the ball past David James - United 1-0 up.

Six minutes later, Rooney doubled his tally. An audacious chip from outside the box went straight over the Portsmouth defence and into the left hand corner of the goal, United 2-0.

Portsmouth did manage to get a goal back, but United went through 2-1 into the fifth round of the FA Cup.
