Mumbai: Police on Friday filed a chargesheet against Pravin Mahajan, accused of killing his brother and BJP leader Pramod Mahajan.
The chargesheet, which ran into nearly 650 pages, was filed by police in the court of a Magistrate at Bhoiwada near Dadar.
Pravin was arrested on April 22 after he surrendered to the Mumbai Police saying he had shot Pramod Mahajan.
Pravin, currently lodged in a central prison, is charged with murder (Section 302 of IPC), 449 (house trespass with an intention to commit a crime) and conspiracy (Section 120-b of IPC).
Assistant Public Prosecutor E B Dhamal said that 58 people, including some politicians, have figured as key-witnesses to the incident in the case.
He, however, did not disclose the names of the politicians and said the chargesheet would be personally handed over to Pravin on Monday, when he would be produced before the court for an extension of his judicial remand.
Pramod Mahajan had sustained three bullet wounds and was admitted to the Hinduja hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on May 3.
