BHUBANESWAR: In its bid to grab space in competitive politics of the Opposition in the State, Congress is preparing a chargesheet against the Naveen Patnaik-led Government. Earlier, the BJP had submitted a chargesheet against the BJD Government. The committee constituted by the Orissa Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) headed by former chief minister Giridhar Gamang met here on Wednesday to finalise the same. It will take another three days to take a concrete shape. Sources said the chargesheet will list the various acts of omission and commission by the Naveen-led government during the last 11 years. The multi-crore mining scam and the demand for a CBI probe by the party will be a major issue raised in the chargesheet. The issue was also raised by the BJP in its chargesheet released nearly three months back. The 10-point corruption charges of the BJP included the MGNREGS scam, dal, mining and water scams and the Vedanta University land scam. The BJP had launched the ‘Bhrastachar Hatao Abhiyan’ in Orissa on January 17. AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi’s opinion during his two-day visit to the State from July 13 that corruption is not the issue but implementation of schemes is the problem, was a dampener for the State Congress. The multi-crore mining scam in Orissa is much bigger than in Karnataka where the chief minister had to go, a senior leader said. The party has decided to release the chargesheet soon to recover lost ground after Rahul’s visit. Most probably, the chargesheet will be released before the Monsoon Session of the Assembly beginning August 17. Among others, former ministers Narasingh Mishra, Ramakrusna Patnaik and Ganeswar Behera, former MP Soumya Ranjan Patnaik and Opposition Chief Whip in the Assembly Prasad Harichandan attended the meeting.
