Couple attacked with an iron rod, wife killed and husband critically injured

A couple was allegedly attacked with an iron rod, killing the wife and leaving the husband seriously injured, police said on Thursday.

Usha(60) was found dead with head injuries and her husband, Jai Bhagwan Bansal (63) seriously injured at their residence in Patel Nagar, they said.  An iron rod was recovered from the sight, police said adding, it is suspected to be a case of murder.

Bansal was rushed to hospital and his condition was stated to be critical.  The reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained and investigations are on, they added.
