NEW DELHI: In a pre-scripted drama, 10 Congress MPs on Monday resigned to their posts to exert pressure on the UPA government to take an early decision on Telangana State.The resignation episode had all elements of a drama - placating the needy, pleading with the powerful, anguish, sorrow, sympathy and last but not last, hope.Though the seven MPs had an appointment with Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar at 11 a.m. to submit their resignations, all of them arrived almost half-an-hour late. By that time Speaker, who waited for more than 15 minutes, left for her home. Realising their mistake, MPs desperately tried to contact her to get another appointment even at her residence. They finally decided to stay put in her chambers till they got her appointment.Finally, the speaker was virtually forced to give them audience in her chambers at around 2.30 pm.MP Rajaiah clarified that the delay was 'not intentional and only accidental.'The efforts of MPs to convince Lok Sabha member Sarve Satyanarayana to tender his resignation had failed. Satyanarayana stuck to his stand saying that he would not quit.Lok Sabha members Ponnam Prabhakar, Rajaiah, Manda Jagannadham, Gutta Sukhender Reddy, G. Vivek, Rajagopal Reddy and Balram Naik submitted their resignations in the prescribed 'format' and also submitted the fax letters of Madhu Yashki Goud and Shetkar, who could not reach the capital.Manda Jagannadham is understood to have broke down while explaining the need to submit their resignations and recalled the sacrifices of 600 persons for the cause of Telangana State.Earlier in the day, Rajya Sabha member K Kesava Rao handed over his resignation to officer on special duty (OSD) to Rajya Sabha chairman and Vice-president Hamid Ansari.
