BANGALORE: If you are looking for security solutions for the critical information your company holds, Securitybyte – 2011 may hold the key. The conference on information security featuring experts from national and international levels was inaugurated by Governor H R Bharadwaj at Crowne Plaza in Electronic City yesterday.  On the occasion, Bharadwaj stated the need for India to improve virtual infrastructure “Unfortunately, very little is being done to improve it. Our banking and court systems are not fully computerized yet,” he said. Although his interest is in law, he said that he initiated providing laptops to all court judges. “As a result of that, even the SC is now completely e-governed,” he said.The four-day conference aims at improving awareness among companies and independent developers on the importance of securing critical data and information from adversaries. Delivering the keynote address was Edward Schwartz, chief security officer, RSA, who said: “One can't protect everything in the virtual world. But one has to know where everything is and what matters the most,” he said, appreciating Facebook's model of information security that allows only selected data to be shared. Richard Marshall, Dept. of Homeland Security, Prof Whitfield Diffie, VP for Info Security at iCann, John Bumgarner of US Cyber Consequences Unit along with Indians Amit Sharma, Office of the Secretary Defence, Sridhar Jayanthi, McAfee among others are some of the speakers in the event.  “We are quickly moving our culture into the web, a design that we control. Hence, people may try to get access to this design,” said Prof Diffie, known as the father of public key encryption. The event also has an expo featuring several security providers for companies looking to secure their data. Securitybyte is the brainchild of Nischal Bhalla, a young entrepreneur with expertise in network security. Securitybyte – 2011 is on till September 9, featuring technical workshops and interactive games on hacking.
