'Insult to Sanatan Dharma': BJP Targets Akhilesh For Seer-Mafia Comparison, Calls It 'Hidden Agenda of INDIA Bloc'
SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav's 'there is no difference between Hindu Seers and Mafias' remark ignited a political firestorm with BJP leaders calling it an 'insult to Sanatan.'

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav’s brazen comparison of ‘mathadheesh and mafia’ ignited a political firestorm on Friday with BJP leaders calling it an insult to Sanatan Dharma.

Reacting to Yadav’s ‘there is no difference between Hindu Seers and Mafias’ remark, BJP leader Shehzad Poonawala said that it’s a hidden agenda of the INDIA bloc to insult Sanatan Dharma for vote bank politics.

“After Sanatan abuse by DMK, after Congress labelling Hindus violent, now Samajwadi Party which killed Ram Bhakts says Mathadish are like Mafia! Can they say this about other faiths? INDI Alliance has only one agenda- ‘Hindu Astha Ko Do Gaali, Votebank ki Milegi Taali.”

What Akhilesh Yadav Said on Seers?

Addressing a press conference in Lucknow on the recent encounter of Mangesh Yadav in Sultanpur, Yadav said, “There is no person who does not know that under the Bharatiya Janata Party government, fake encounters are taking place, murders are being committed. BJP has done so many fake encounters that it has made Uttar Pradesh the capital of fake encounters…Mathdeeshon aur mafia mei zyada fark nahi hota (There is no difference between Hindu Seers and Mafias).”

Stepping up the offensive against the key opposition party of Uttar Pradesh, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said that the Samajwadi Party works to protect the mafias in the state. “They don’t know the difference between monasteries, temples, and mosques. Whenever the Samajwadi Party comes to power, it works to protect the mafia. These people are those who read prayers at the mausoleum of the mafia.”

State Minister Sanjay Nishad also trained guns at Yadav and defended Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led UP government by saying that during the Samajwadi Party regime, Akhilesh Nishad was killed in an encounter.

“Those who visit the graves of mafias are insulting Sanatan by making such statements. It is not appropriate to politicise the police and judiciary. During the Samajwadi Party government, the police also killed Akhilesh Nishad,” the UP minister said.

Seers Flay Akhilesh

Yadav’s remark drew flak from the seers who condemned the brazen comparison of their community with the gangsters. Mahant Durga Das of Shri Panchayati Akhara Udasin Nirvana termed Akhilesh’s statement as “highly condemnable”.

“All saints are heads of the monastery; everyone has a seat. A head of the monastery is compared to God in Sanatan Dharma. Linking the head of the monastery with the mafia is a sign of shallowness,” he said.

Mahant Yogesh Puri Maharaj of Shri Mankameshwar Temple in Agra recalled the firing of bullets on Karsevaks in the aftermath of Ram Rath Yatra in 1990.

“If Akhilesh is saying that there is no difference between the head of the monastery and the mafia, then he should first look at himself. What has he done? Whose father had fired bullets at the karsevaks? Whose ministers say all sorts of things about Ram? Everyone can understand what his intentions are towards the monastery. May God give him wisdom.”
