Kareena Kapoor will be honoured with the Smita Patil Memorial Award for her contribution to the film industry.
Mumbai: The Chairman of the Priyadarshini Academy, Nanik Rupani, has announced that their biennial Smita Patil Memorial Award will be given to actor Kareena Kapoor for her outstanding contribution to the film industry.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh will be the chief guest at the award ceremony, which will be held on September 19 at Hotel Hilton Towers in Mumbai.
Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Kamal Nath and Minister for Finance and Planning Jayantrao Patil will be the guests of honour at the event.
Priyadarshini Academy, a prominent NGO, has been holding the biennial awards function ever since its inception in 1984.
The six other recipients of the awards include:
- Chief mentor of Infosys Technologies M N Narayana Murthy.
- Former chairman and managing director of ONGC Subir Saha.
- Honorary Dean and Chief Cardiologist at Bombay Hospital B K Goyal
- Dean of the Centre for Economic Research and Advanced Studies, IIPM, Professor Arindam Chaudhuri
- Executive Director of the Partnership for Governance Reform in Indonesia Dr H S Dillon
- Chairman and Managing Director of Financial Technologies Jignesh Shah.
