BANGALORE: The 'Shradhanjali Kalash' to commemorate the sacrifice of the Kargil War Martyrs reached the site of the National Military Memorial in the Indira Gandhi Musical Fountain park on Friday in the city.
Karnataka Home Minister R Ashok, Mayor Sharadamma and senior defence forces officials paid respect to the Kalash. Citizens Society of India, the main organisers of the event, will take the Kalash to New Delhi on July 26, to mark the 12th anniversary of the Kargil victory. They informed that the Kalash would be placed alongside the Amar Jyothi Jawan.Speaking about the contribution of the defence forces, Ashok said that it was a very 'holy occasion' where the people who had laid down their lives for the country were being remembered. Ashok also took the opportunity to personally invite the defence forces in implementing Rain Water Harvesting (RWH) in defence areas across the city.
