Kerala: US evangelist held for visa violation

KOCHI: A US evangelist was today arrested for allegedly violating his visa norms by conducting a gospel musical convention here, police said.William Lee, who had come to India on a tourist visa, had given police the slip from the convention venue on October 12 after which lookout notices were issued to all airports in the country, they said.Lee was arrested from Hotel Taj Malabar in Wellington Island here. He was later sent to Ernakulam sub-jail after a court remanded him in judicial custody till October 18.The religious preacher had conducted a programme called 'Musical Splash' organised by Faith Leaders Church of God, a Christian congregation, which was against rules as he was in India on a tourist visa.
