Lakshadweep: 100 per cent coverage of farmers

KOCHI: The Lakshadweep islands have attained 100 per cent coverage of farmers under the Kisan credit card scheme. A declaration in this regard was made by Syndicate Bank, the lead bank and Lakshadweep Administrator Amar Nath at Kavaratti on November 8.  The campaign was launched in September 2011 to cover all eligible farmers under the scheme.Officials of the Syndicate Bank and Agricultural department along with village dweep panchayat officials had visited the households and distributed applications.Farmers in all nine islands were given application forms and loans were sanctioned to eligible applicants.
