MADURAI: Dr S Navaneethakrishnan, who was arrested on Monday on charges of extortion, is also a close aide of ‘Pottu’ Suresh. Navaneethakrishnan, was instrumental in introducing S Saravanmuthu (47), a Government Rajaji Hospital doctor to ‘Pottu’ Suresh. It is said that Saravanmuthu had almost taken over a hospital (Sri Hospital, Arappalayam) run by his relatives. His relative one Ponmani charged that he had swindled Rs 1.25 crore and had resorted to take legal action against the doctor. It is then that Saravanamuthu, with the help of Navaneethakrishnan, met ‘Pottu’ Suresh and asked him to intervene. They called up Ponmani to have talks with ‘Pottu’ Suresh and they threatened her to register the hospital in their name at a very cheap rate. Annamalai who was working as DIG (Registration) in Madurai, had helped them to register the document compromising the rules and regulation.Based on the complaint, the CCB police filed a case against the five persons under section 365 , 368, 384, 477(a), 166, 506, 124(b) and 420 IPC.
