The protest committee formed against inauguration of the bus stand at Vaniyambadi, along with representatives of several political parties and residents of Vaniyambadi, held a one-day fast in front of the Vellore Collectorate on Monday.
The protestors alleged that the bus stand, which was constructed at a cost of Rs 3.30 crore, was located in remote Chettiapanur area, which lies far away from Vaniyambadi town, forcing public to arrange for alternative means of transport to reach the bus stand.
Protest committee President K Omar, Ambur MLA Aslam Basha and Anaicut MLA Kalaiarasu led the fast. Members of various political parties such as DMDK, PMK, BJP, Muslim League, VCK and Manithaneya Makkal Katchi also participated in the fast.
