NAMAKKAL: The private schools association in Namakkal has asked that schools be given the autonomy to determine the fee structure in their respective schools. A resolution urging the government to permit them to fix their fees was passed at a meeting of private school owners here on Thursday. Addressing reporters after the meeting, Namakkal District Private Schools Federation honorary president P N Palanisamy said private schools were not expecting a favourable decision from the Justice Raviraja Pandian Committee, which was scrutinising the appeals made by the schools. He said the government must either fix the fee structure on it own in case of private engineering colleges, or leave the decision to the schools themselves.Federation president Shanmuga Sundaram affirmed that private schools would not bow to pressure. Other administrators of matriculation schools here expressed concern over the uncertainty surrounding the fate of Samacheer Kalvi. This comes in the wake of the government’s announcement that the previous syllabus  would be followed for the forthcoming academic year.
