The BJP has said the controversy involving former Madhya Pradesh finance minister Raghavji will not damage the party's prospects in the state Assembly polls slated for later this year.
"It is wrong to apprehend that the Raghavji episode would damage the BJP in the upcoming Assembly elections," party vice president Prabhat Jha told reporters in Ujjain on Tuesday evening.
The former state minister was recently arrested on charges of sodomy levelled by his domestic help. Jha said the party cannot be blamed for the episode. "...no one can blame the party over the case," the leader said.
BJP is a strong organisation and the act of one leader alone cannot decide its fate, he said, adding that the party had already sacked Raghavji following the case against him.
