Senior Citizens: Why no special city buses?

VIJAYAWADA: After the state road transport corporation plying special buses for women in the city, now it is the elders who are demanding the exclusive facility.“Why should not we have exclusive buses?”, asked S Ranga Rao, a senior citizen of Penamaluru village. “The RTC should consider the inconvenience faced by the elders who find it hard to catch up with the increasing rush and the traffic in a hurry.” It is difficult to get on and off from the buses, which suddenly speed up after a halt for a few seconds. The same problem is faced by the physically challenged too, he said.Apart from the reason, senior citizens have enough cause to have special buses. N Ramulu, another senior citizen said we have enough problems which cause inconvenience to all the commuters especially elders-travelling on footboard and bus compartment tainted with gutkha-spit.
