A local court on Saturday sentenced Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Jadhav to three months imprisonment for assaulting a state power utility engineer three years back.
District and sessions court judge SS Sayyad found Jadhav guilty under sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on him.
It was prosecution's case that Jadhav had attacked Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co Ltd (MSEDCL) engineer Bhimrao Sawant over delay in sanction of a power generator set for farmers in Murumba village in the district.
