BHUBANESWAR: Even though the implementation of Forest Rights Act (FRA) in the State has drawn flak for irregularities in big ticket investments like Posco and Vedanta, Orissa is among the top States in the country in its implementation.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday reviewed its implementation and directed the officials to settle claims under the FRA quickly and in a transparent manner. The State Government is also working towards a people-friendly land acquisition policy following strong opposition by locals to almost all the projects. Revenue Minister Surjya Narayan Patro told TNIE that the Government is planning to introduce a provision of annuity for landlosers by amending its resettlement and rehabilitation (R R) policy, 2006 to overcome difficulty in acquiring land for industries.
