Chennai: In a new role to a transgender in the history of Indian television, 28-year-old Rose will be hosting a talk show on a Tamil satellite channel to discuss various social issues.
The show titled Ippadikku Rose (Yours Rose), scheduled to be aired on Vijay TV in December, will discuss a host of issues like child abuse, discrimination, taboos, phobias and syndromes, besides transgenders.
"There are thousands of social issues and the problem of transgender people is one among them. All these will be discussed one by one in the programme," Rose told a press conference.
Looking stunning in a bright yellow saree and matching accessories, Rose, who had done a double post graduate degree in engineering in the US, presented a picture of confidence when she spoke about her vision to become a role model for her peers in the third gender.
"There are lots of misconceptions about transgenders and unfortunately, the media have also so far concentrated on negative aspects of the third gender. But, given a right opportunity, they will also progress and become productive citizens. I hope my presence in the media will have a positive impact and change people's attitude towards my community," she said.
In a promo of the programme, the channel said: "She is common to both men and women. Pour out your inner feelings to her."
