New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said that help should be provided to the family of Dinesh Yadav, who had succumbed to injuries after he had set himself ablaze in 2011 during the Jan Lokpal Bill movement. "We should help the family of Dinesh Yadav and I will tell the party's local volunteer of Bihar to help them," Kejriwal said.

The family of Dinesh Yadav had earlier appealed to Kejriwal to help them through their life of misery.

"Kejriwal uncle, my father sacrificed his life for your movement, demanding Lokpal Bill. We are living in abject poverty and fighting for survival, please help us," Guddu, the 14-year-old son of Dinesh, had said.

Dinesh was resident of Sarfuddinpur village, about 40 km from Bihar capital city. Dinesh - the family's sole bread winner - left behind his parents, wife and five children, including Pooja Kumari (12), Bharti Kumari (10), Sohil (8) and Amar (4).

Dinesh's brother Brijmohan Yadav had earlier told that politicians from various parties visited the family after his brother's death and promised help, but nothing had happened as yet.

"They assured a road after his name, a life-size statue and free education to his children. But nothing happened till date," he said.

Shouting pro-Anna Hazare slogans, Dinesh Yadav had set himself ablaze near Rajghat in New Delhi on August 23, 2011. He sustained 70-80 per cent burns and died in a hospital on August 29.
