ERODE: A woman constable who levelled serious allegations, including sex torture, against some officials in the police department recently is back in the news. Informed sources said Srinivasan, husband of S K Valli of the Erode Karungalpalayam Police Station, has lodged a complaint on her behalf with the special cell on land grab charges, functioning in the office of the Erode Superintendent of Police, against a DMK town wing functionary.As per the complaint, the DMK man got hold of the documents of Srinivasan’s old tiled house at Karungalpalayam after giving an assurance to sell it at a good price and then use the money to get Srinivasan a Tamil Nadu Housing Board (TNHB) accommodation under the minister’s quota.The DMK man sold the house in 2006, but kept the money with him. As he refused to return the money and also failed to get the TNHB house, Valli lodged a complaint with the Erode Surampatti Police Station last year. Later, the DMK man offered a few thousand rupees, sources said.“When Srinivasan’s house was sold, the DMK functionary signed in the document as a witness. But, he did not give the money to Srinivasan. Hence, the complaint,” sources said. Sources added that Valli was transferred from the office of the Superintendent of Police (SP) to Karungalpalayam after she came out in the open against higher officials. This when many policemen and women were working in the SP office for many years without getting transfer to their desired locations. Valli had earlier lodged a petition with the district police office in connection with the kidnap of Srinivasan and on the involvement of some DMK functionaries in the incident. Her petition against some police officials and the complaint that the department has not created a special cell to deal sexual torture complaints of women cops are pending in the High Court.
