The popular K-pop group BTS is currently on hiatus due to the mandatory military enlistment of its members. Despite this, singer Kim Taehyung is staying connected with fans. BTS member V, also known as Kim Taehyung, surprised fans on Valentine’s Day with an update on his life since enlisting in mandatory military service in December 2023. Taking to his Weverse account, V shared that he has gained weight during his military service, revealing his current weight to be 72.5kg. This revelation sparked excitement among fans, as his weight had previously been a topic of concern when it dropped to 63.4kg in 2022 and was even lower at 62kg before his enlistment.
Before enlisting, V and his bandmates had jokingly discussed a weight gain competition, with V setting a goal to reach 86kg while serving in the army.
In a message translated by a fan handle on X, V wrote on Weverse, “I’ll do an interim report. 72.5 kg achieved. I’ll be back. Loyalty.” This unexpected update left ARMY thrilled and touched by V’s dedication to keeping them informed about his well-being during his service.

Apart from this health update, the 28-year-old singer had also recently delighted his fans on Valentine’s Day with a floral-themed photoshoot for Celine. The pictures were shared on Instagram by W Korea.
The Instagram post from W Korea featuring V’s photos had quickly gone viral. The magazine described the photoshoot in a caption that read, “We released the pictorial pictures of BTS’s look like a Valentine’s Day gift. Celine’s global ambassador, Eddie Sleiman, perfectly digested Celine’s Spring Summer 2024 collection. Watch this romantic shot with Celine.”
V is a brand ambassador for Celine, a French luxury fashion house. In the photo shoot, the Inner Child singer posed with a variety of flowers, evoking the spirit of spring.

V enlisted in the ROK Army’s 2nd division, specialising in special forces, alongside RM. After completing their five-week training, both V and RM graduated as elite trainees from the Nonsan Training Center on January 16.
Currently, all seven members of BTS are fulfilling their mandatory military service. Jimin and Jungkook reportedly joined Jin at the 5th Infantry Division, while J-Hope serves as a Corporal officer and SUGA works as a social worker. With Jin and J-Hope expected to be discharged this year, the remaining members are set to complete their service in 2025. V’s discharge date is tentatively set for June 10, 2025. BTS is planning to reunite in late 2025, much to the anticipation of their fans worldwide.
