Bangalore: Pyarelal Ramprasad Sharma, one half of the famous music composing duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal, said he is ready to do music for a Bollywood film if somebody comes with a good offer.
"I am ready to compose music for a Bollywood film if a producer or a filmmaker comes with a good offer," he told PTI in an interview here.
The yesteryear Bollywood music composer is here for a concert organised by Royal Bangalore Junction in association with Peace of Mind for which Pyarelal has brought in 60 musicians from his troupe to present hits from the golden era of Hindi music at a fund-raiser for Rotary's TEACH Mission tomorrow.
Pyarelal, however, expressed reservation about working with producers who come up with an offer of making one or two compositions in a film. "I do not like the idea of working with producers who tell me to give one or two compositions in a film. I like giving music for the entire film, from background music to song competition."
He said he has nothing more to achieve and is happy doing concerts. "I have achieved everything, from people's love to accolade from Hindi film industry. I have been in the industry for the last 58 years.
"I have worked with actors of the calibre of Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor and Dharmendra - I enjoyed working with them - that was different era and atmosphere. Now the milieu has changed."
Asked how he rated today's film compositions, Pyarelal said it is good, but the atmosphere and the working style has changed.
"The atmosphere has changed. The working style has changed. When we used to work, about 200 musicians worked at a time, but it is now all done on sophisticated equipment - somehow that zing thing is missing. But I don't say it is bad. It is good. One must understand everything in life changes and so does music," Pyarelal said.
Asked whether showman Subhash Ghai misses his magical music, Pyarelal said, "Something happened - one fine morning we decided we should tread different paths as we had both worked together for a very long time. There wasn't a fight - we are still friends," Pyarelal said.
However, Pyarelal said Ghai was a top filmmaker and he enjoyed working with him.
On his brother's children - Monty Sharma and Mithoon Sharma, Pyarelal said he is very happy with the good music they are giving.
Monty and Mithoon are nephews of Pyarelal. Mithoon has given music for films like 'Zeher', 'Bas Ek Pal', 'Murder-2', 'Jism-2' and others. Monty has given music for 'Devdas', 'Black', 'Apne', 'Ram-Leela' and others.
"Have you heard the music of 'Ashiqui-2' and 'Saawariyaa'? How were they? They were fantastic... They are my brothers' children. I am happy they are wonderful work, but I always feel that I should have done such work," Pyarelal said.
