Prabhas and Vijay secured the top spots as per the report, followed by Shah Rukh Khan and Mahesh Babu.

After a glorious box office run, Kalki 2898 AD star Prabhas has emerged as the ‘Most Popular Male Film Star in India’, as per Ormax Media’s report for July 2024. Kalki 2898 AD was released towards the end of June and brought widespread acclaim for actors Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan. Prabhas’ top spot is also interesting as it comes at the heels of Arshad Warsi’s comments about his role in the Nag Ashwin directorial film.

As per the July 2024 report, the top spots are given in the following order: Prabhas, Vijay, Shah Rukh Khan, Mahesh Babu, Jr NTR, Akshay Kumar, Allu Arjun, Salman Khan, Ram Charan and lastly, Ajith Kumar. Check out the list here:

It was reported that the Hindi version of Kalki 2898 AD had collected Rs 112.15 Cr in the opening weekend and ended its run with a lifetime collection of Rs 294.25 Cr in Hindi alone. The film has garnered attention again after it was recently released on Netflix and Prime Video in multiple languages. But more significantly, the film made headlines again after Arshad Warsi’s critique of Prabhas’ role went viral.

For the unversed, Arshad Warsi recently said that Prabhas looked like a ‘joker’ in Kalki 2898 AD. The actor was asked to name a recent film he watched and didn’t like. The Golmaal star named Kalki 2898 AD. Arshad said that while he loved Amitabh Bachchan’s performance as Ashwatthama in the Nag Ashwin directorial, he was not impressed by Prabhas’ look. He added that Prabhas should have been made to look like Mel Gibson. While Arshad’s remark was about Prabhas’ role in the film, many believed it to be an attack on the actor and jumped to his defence by slamming Arshad.

During a recent press conference of his latest film Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, Nani was asked about Arshad’s comment when he seemingly mocked the latter and called it an “unimportant matter.” Sudheer Babu also slammed Arshad Warsi for his comment and called him ‘unprofessional’. “It’s okay to criticize constructively but it’s never okay to bad-mouth. Never expected the absence of professionalism from Arshad Warsi. Prabhas’s stature is too big for comments coming from small minds,” Babu wrote on X. Before this, director Ajay Bhupathi also expressed his outrage over Arshad Warsi’s comments on Prabhas. He talked about Prabhas’ his contributions to Indian cinema and accused Warsi of being jealous of the Baahubali actor.
