One of the most talented and versatile actors in Bollywood, Randeep Hooda in the past few years has indeed created a niche for himself by portraying some unconventional roles on the big screen. Besides leading a successful career in Bollywood, the actor also made his debut in Hollywood with the 2020 film ‘Extraction’ alongside Chris Hemsworth. Directed by Russo Brothers, Extraction features Randeep in the role of Saju Ram, former Para (Special Forces) Major. While the actor received a lot of appreciation following his Hollywood debut, he recently opened up on the same, revealing how he cleared the auditions for Extraction.
Hooda who was recently in Delhi for the trailer launch of his upcoming film ‘Swatantrya Veer Savarkar’ spoke to India Today and reflected on his journey in Extraction.
‘My audition for Extraction was not good’
Mentioning that his audition was not very good, the actor shared that he feels thankful to the Russo Brothers and director Sam Hargrave, who agreed to choose him despite giving an average performance in the audition.

Speaking about his role, Hooda also explained that there was an option for him to take a different part in the film; however, he chose a particular role to challenge the prevailing international images of Indian actors. He shared that he wanted to break away from the stereotypes and create a new facet of Indian talent.

Randeep Hooda during his conversation was also seen heaping praise on his Extraction co-star Chris Hemsworth, calling him a great person with a good sense of humour.

“He’s a great person and is very funny. Though he looks very tough, he is hilarious and a very nice guy. He is also the quintessential superstar of the world, not just in one country. Chris is very down-to-earth and a very humble and sweet person. I really enjoyed working with him,” the actor said.
For the unversed, the Hollywood star played the lead role in the Russo Brothers film, which was based on a mercenary who was hired to extract a kidnapped Indian boy from the clutches of a Bangladeshi drug lord.
Randeep Hooda in ‘Swatantrya Veer Savarkar’
On the work front, Randeep Hooda will be next seen in ‘Swatantrya Veer Savarkar’, a biopic on the life of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, who played a prominent role in the Indian freedom movement.

The movie also features Ankita Lokhande and Amit Sial in pivotal roles. The film will be released on March 22, 2024 in Hindi and Marathi.
