Boney Kapoor also spoke about elder daughter Janhvi's religious inclinations.

Boney Kapoor is currently busy promoting his upcoming film, Maidaan. Recently, he took the time to reflect on his late wife and actress Sridevi, and the profound impact she had on his life and beliefs. In an interview with Zoom, Kapoor opened up about Sridevi’s deep-rooted spirituality, which often surpassed his own. He revealed, “Sridevi was more religious than I was. I started believing more in it because of her.” It was not just Sridevi’s devotion that influenced Kapoor’s own but also her personality, characterised by uniqueness.

Kapoor shared an anecdote that exemplified this aspect of her character. “Sridevi did unusual roles and unusual things. She lit the fire on the pyre when her mother passed away,” he recalled. This act is traditionally performed by males in most cultures.

Talking about their relationship, Boney Kapoor revealed that despite their deep connection, his and Sridevi’s relationship had faced some challenges. Especially their secretive marriage in June 1996, which was only revealed to the public in January 1997 brought the couple troubles initially. This period of secrecy exposed them to public scrutiny and negativity, adding complexity to their personal lives.

Sridevi’s untimely demise in 2018, due to an accidental drowning in a Dubai hotel bathtub during a family wedding, shocked the world.

In 2023, Kapoor revealed shocking details about Sridevi’s health, stating that she used to experience blackouts due to her strict low-salt diets aimed at maintaining her physical appearance. “She often used to starve; she wanted to look good. She wanted to make sure she was in good shape, so that on-screen, she looked good. From the time she was married to me, she had blackouts on a couple of occasions, and the doctor kept on saying she had a low BP issue,” Kapoor disclosed to The New Indian.

Apart from Sridevi’s personal beliefs, Kapoor also discussed their elder daughter Janhvi Kapoor’s religious inclinations. Janhvi, like her mother, is deeply connected to her faith and is often spotted visiting the Tirupati Balaji Temple. Recently, she marked her 50th visit to the temple on her birthday, showing her strong spiritual beliefs.
