Narendra Modi is likely to take oath as the Prime Minister of India on June 9 for a consecutive third term, sources reported.

The Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured a successive third term in office following the declaration of the Lok Sabha election results on June 4.

According to sources, Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony might take place at around 6 pm on June 9. However, there is yet no official confirmation on the date of the oath taking ceremony.

Earlier there were speculations that the ceremony for the new Modi led-NDA government will be conducted on Saturday.

Modi on Wednesday met leaders from National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the first meeting after the alliance won the the Lok Sabha election. The NDA reposed faith in Modi and chose him as leader of the alliance, setting the stage for him to return as the PM for the record third term.

The alliance leaders conducted a crucial meeting at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg to discuss the formation of the government.

After the meeting, Modi said that the NDA will further national progress and fulfil regional aspirations. “We will serve the 140 crore people of India and work towards building a Viksit Bharat,” he said in a post on X.

The NDA passed a resolution to pick Modi as the leader of the alliance.

“We all are proud that NDA fought and won the 2024 Lok Sabha elections unitedly under the leadership of respected Shri Narendra Modi ji. We all unanimously choose respected NDA leader Shri Narendra Modi as our leader,” read the resolution.

Among the prominent NDA leaders who attending the meeting were TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu, JD(U) leader and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, Shiv Sena leader and Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde and LJP (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan.
