New Delhi: Politics has begun over the brutal murder of a young girl in Delhi a couple of days ago. Backing Aam Aadmi Party government, Former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Sunday pitched for setting up a commission to bring changes in functioning of Delhi Police following outrage over the gruesome murder of a 19-year-old girl.
"Political blame game will not churn out any solution. There is a need for a commission that would look into how certain functions of Delhi police should come under state's purview," Dikhsit said.
Aam Aadmi Party workers on Sunday held a candlelight march in the capital in protest. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the incident saying that he must assess the law and order situation in Delhi, as Delhi police comes under his jurisdiction.
The 19-year-old girl, was brutally stabbed to death allegedly by two brothers living in her neighbourhood in central Delhi's Anand Parbat area for protesting their verbal abuse on July 16.
Kejriwal had yesterday announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the family of a girl and ordered a magisterial probe into the case while slamming Delhi Police for the "deteriorating" law and order situation.
