New Delhi: Google's own executive has tried to put to rest your concerns about owning a smartwatch. Vice President Matías Duarte is of the belief that smartwatches represent the future and that future is yet to arrive fully and it is okay if you don't want to own one right now.
Responsible for Google's new title bars and 'plus' buttons across various apps, Duarte made the statement during the Bloomberg Businessweek Design 2015 conference in San Francisco this week.
During the interview, Duarte compared technology to historical tools and trades and modern animators as gardeners using computer graphics to quickly churn out scenery.
According to Duarte, a smartwatch is like an electric can opener. Your parents may decide they don't need one-it's too big, has too many wires-but it's nice to have. Sporting an Android smartwatch on his wrist, he said that you'll want a smartwatch if you're an enthusiast for fitness or notifications.
Even as the technology has started to grow on us, quite literally, the reasons for not having a smartwatch are many, but Duarte says that none of it will matter in the future as smart devices will be treated like we treat apps today.
