The latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16 saw Swapn Chaturvedi taking the hot seat, pursuing his dream of winning big on the show. The contestant, in the middle of the game, also engaged in a conversation with the host of the show, Amitabh Bachchan. During the light-hearted interaction, the actor shared an interesting anecdote about the Kaccha Papad Pakka Papad scene from the 1981 film Yaarana.
It began when the contestant revealed revealed his favourite Amitabh Bachchan movie is Yaarana, adding that he watched it around 500 times. Further sharing the scene that he loves the most from the film, Swapn shared that it was where a Hindi teacher, trying to teach him Hindi, reads a phrase. Praising Amitabh Bachchan, he added that the actor delivers the line with unmatchable humour. Smiling at Swapn, Amitabh Bachchan said, “Sir abhi toh main bhul gaya hoon, aap he bata dijiye.”
As Swapn highlighted the tongue twister narrated by Amitabh Bachchan in the film, the veteran star replied by sharing the story behind the same. He recalled, “I also couldn’t do it. I just said Kaccha Papad Pakka Papad, bahut mushkil hota hai sir ye.. kaafi humne uska rehearsal kiya. Kyunki jab bataya gaya ke ye drishya aane waala hai kal, aur ye aapko bolna padega, raat bhar hum usko bolte rahe kaccha papad pakka papad, par yaad nahi hua phir jab take hua bahut saare retake hue.. woh sahi nahi baith raha tha bahut mushkil hota usko tezzi se bolna. (I couldn’t do it either. I just said Kaccha Papad Pakka Papad- it’s really difficult, sir. We practised it a lot. When they told me the scene was coming up the next day and that I’d have to say it, I kept repeating it all night- Kaccha Papad Pakka Papad. But I still couldn’t remember it. When the take happened, there were so many retakes because I couldn’t get it right. It’s very tough to say it quickly.”
Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 16 premiered on Sony TV on August 12. Hosted by Amitabh Bachchan, the quiz-based reality show airs on Monday to Friday at 9 PM. Besides, it is also available for streaming on Sony LIV.
