The question of whether one should decide to settle and when, is a cause for a lot of dilemmas; especially in a country like India, marriages are considered the end goal by many. A video of men is grabbing the online attention, as they are captured discussing marriage. Its highlight being the answer of the elderly which will make you cackle and think at the same time. The 21-second clip was shared by News18 Hindi, showing a group of men seemingly from a village, gathered to discuss the marriage of the one looking the saddest. The video starts with one of the men asking the other, the gloomy one, “What happened friend? You look very upset?” in their native tongue. He then starts to open up about his issue.
He says, “Please tell me one thing,” adding, “my family is asking me to marry but I want to stay in a relationship, what should I do? I do not understand.” To this, the third friend replies with a witty answer. He states that being in a relationship is like a bus journey while going for a marriage is like being on an aeroplane journey. He ends his words with a sneaky, “Rest is up to you to understand and think.”
Still confused, the man turns to the elderly man, who was quietly listening to the whole conversation. He asks him, “Baba, please share your view on this.” The man replies instantly, agreeing with the other man’s advice. He says, “He (the previous guy) is right. A man can leave the bus mid journey but will not be able to do it once he is on an airplane.” Hearing this, the younger men double back with disbelief, shocked at how casually he spoke of such a topic, that too being right. According to the elderly man, a relationship can end if things go bad. In a marriage, two people have vowed to be together for life.
