KOCHI: An adalat organised by the Women’s Commission here on Tuesday received good response. The commission received sixty three complaints, of which seventeen were settled and seven referred to its full bench. Many of the complaints were regarding family and property matters.A speech-impaired woman from Paravoor filed a complaint that she was being molested by one of her relatives. The commission referred the case to the full bench as it is not entitled to take a decision on such issues. Same was the case with another complaint lodged by a woman working at a municipality in the district. She alleged that her senior, a municipal secretary, has been mentally abusing her. The commission instructed the police to conduct an inquiry into the complaint and submit a detailed report. The commission did not take any decision on the complaint filed by the residents of the Housing Board flats at Thrikkakara that some Nigerian students living in the vicinity have become a public nuisance. No decision was taken as the complaint lodged was incomplete, Women’s Commission member Nurubina Rashid, who is in charge of the district said. “The complainants have been asked to file a detailed report,” she said. The adalat was presided over by Nurubina. The complaints which were not resolved will be reconsidered in the next adalat which will be held on February 7.
