Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt clearly does not care much for tags such as 'flop actor' or a 'newbie'. Being in an industry where, as he states, 'most films made are flops', all he cares about is 'talent'. Haunted 3D, his next big screen venture clearly is an example of that.
The film, India's first 3D horror big screen venture stars Twinkle Bajpai, a former-contestant on a TV reality show, and Mahakshay Chakraborty (better known as Mimoh) who had a disastrous start to his Bollywood career in Jimmy. But Vikram waves the statistics aside, and points out, "Firstly, hits and flops are a part of this industry, where 95 percent of films made are flops. Now, if you had to cast according to someone's hits and flops, there would be no one left in Bollywood."
Speaking about Mimoh, Vikram admits that there were certain issues with the actor in his last release Jimmy, but now the past is forgotten and new avenues are waiting to be explored. He says, "There were issues Mimoh had in Jimmy that he realised later. He went ahead and lost weight, toned himself up, got a different hairstyle, and basically the way he revamped himself is very good."
Though the film-maker admits that he is not a big follower of reality TV, he knew Twinkle, aka Tia was perfect for his film, the moment he set his eyes on her. He points out, "Reality TV has nothing to do with acting, really. Talent comes in different forms."
Vikram who is going to start work soon on his next film, feels that the timing has never been better for the Indian film industry to explore the concept of making movies in 3D. He says, "I think it would be wrong to say that the necessary technology does not exist in the country to make 3D films. But it takes a lot of unlearning and re-learning for filmmakers to understand 3D. I took three months to learn the process," and adds emphatically, "Things are changing. India is not the country she used to be 25 years ago."
