THENMALA (Kollam): Protestors over the Mullaperiyar issue attacked KSTRC buses at Puliyara, near Aryankavu, on Monday morning. Four buses were damaged in stone-pelting and drivers were threatened by agitators, suspected to be the group which took out a march to Puliyara check-post. Following the attack, the KSTRC’s inter-state services through the Punalur-Thenkasi stretch had been cancelled. The protestors, numbering around 300, belonging to various political parties under the banner of Naam Tamizhar, laid siege to the check-post around 11 a.m. Kerala registered vehicles were not allowed to enter the Tamil Nadu. Only vehicles carrying pilgrims plied through the check-post. The siege lasted for an hour before they were arrested and removed by Tamil Nadu police.
