Moscow: Russia on Monday termed as "serious success" the killing of Al-Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden and called for a joint combat against terrorism to achieve concrete results in the 'war against terror'.
"The Kremlin welcomes the serious successes of the USA in combating the international terrorism," Russian Presidential Press Service was quoted as saying by agencies.
"Russia was one of the first countries to encounter the dangers of global terrorism, and, sadly, knows from first-hand experience what Al-Qaeda is all about," the Kremlin said expressing confidence that all the terrorists will face
vengeance.
The Kremlin also called for a joint combat against global terror for achieving concrete results in this and expressed Russia's readiness to enhance this cooperation.
Meanwhile, the Moscow police boosted security around the US Embassy in the Russian capital.
"Additional police force has been deployed around the US Embassy in Moscow to ensure security," a police source was quoted as saying by ITAR-TASS.
Reacting to the killing of Osama, a prominent Russian Islamic leader said he will "go to hell".
"His place is in hell, he can not expect anything else due to the evil deeds committed by him," Deputy Chairman of Russia's Mufti Council Damir Hizatullin was quoted as saying by ITAR-TASS.
"Bin Laden can not be considered even a Muslim, because in accordance with Islam, killing of one innocent person is equal to the killing of whole mankind. His finale was obvious," Mufti Hizatullin said.
