CHENNAI: A 65-year-old pedestrian died and five persons were injured in two separate road accidents reported on Wednesday and Thursday. Police said on early Thursday morning Munnusamy, a dhobi from Kamarajapuram, was walking with clothes to wash them in a nearby lake when a car hit him and he was thrown away. He died on the spot. St Thomas Mount Traffic Investigation police registered a case and arrested car driver Miller Prabhu of the same area.In an accident in Agaram Then Road on Wednesday night, a motorcyclist Suresh (20) of Pathuvanchery rammed in to an autorickshaw, injured himself and four persons in the auto. Police said he swerved his vehicle to the left from behind an MTC bus that was picking up passengers in a stop and hit the autorickshaw. The two-wheeler was smashed and four persons in the auto including driver Shankar (42), his daughter Durga Devi (5), his sister Mahalakshmi (45) and a relative Chinnaponnu (50) sustained injuries while Eswari, wife of the auto driver, and one Mohan escaped unhurt.
