CHENNAI: A statue in memory of an activist who committed self immolation during the anti-Hindi agitations in Tamil Nadu would be installed in Tiruchirapalli,Chief Minister Jayalalithaa said today.Chinnasamy, only 27 then, committed self immolation in Tiruchirapalli on January 24, 1964 at a time when "Hindi domination posed a threat to Tamil language," Jayalalithaa said in a statement here.The agitations during pre and post-independence periods were against the official status of Hindi in the state.
