Consumer platform RefundMyTicket -- which helps fliers claim compensation -- has published a ranking of Europe's most punctual airlines based on the rate of flights delayed for over one hour.
With just 2.19% of flights delayed for more than 60 minutes, Air France's low-cost subsidiary HOP! proves that budget airlines aren't necessarily synonymous with delays. The carrier's cancellation rate is even lower, at 1.95%, although several airlines outperform HOP! on that front, including Ryanair, which comes second in the punctuality ranking but boasts just 0.29% of cancellations. The percentage of the Irish low-cost carrier's flights delayed for more than one hour -- the value used to rank the most punctual airlines -- is 2.39%.
Other low-cost competitors are performing less well on punctuality. Vueling, for example, comes in 15th place, with one-hour-plus delays at 7.43%. Easyjet does a little better, with 6.44%, and Transavia limits the damage with 6.03% of flights delayed by over an hour.
The first regular airline in the ranking is Swiss Airlines in third place, followed by Austrian Airlines, Alitalia then SAS Scandinavian Airlines.
