How Feroz Khan Stood His Ground Against Raaj Kumar In Oonche Log
At the peak of his career he was introduced to a new star, who was not deterred by his attitude, that man was Feroz Khan.

One of Bollywood’s iconic veteran actors, renowned for his distinctive dialogue delivery and demeanour, Raaj Kumar, was widely known for his commanding presence in the industry. However, a newcomer unyieldingly held his ground against the seasoned star in a film. That newcomer was Feroz Khan.

Raaj Kumar, celebrated for his roles in acclaimed films like Mother India, Phool Bane Angaare and Oonche Log, among others, was reputed for his authoritative attitude and persona. At the pinnacle of his career, he encountered a fresh face in the industry who was unfazed by his demeanour—Feroz Khan.

Raaj Kumar and Feroz Khan collaborated on the 1965 film Oonche Log Reports suggest that during the film’s shoot, Raaj Kumar attempted to offer advice to the budding actor, stating, “This is a significant film; you must approach your role with great care. I will continue to offer guidance.” In response, Feroz politely but firmly asserted, “Raajji, you focus on your work, and I will focus on mine. If I require assistance, I will seek your guidance.” This unexpected response surprised everyone on set, as they anticipated a more aggressive reaction from Raaj Kumar. However, instead of reacting negatively, Raaj Kumar admired Feroz’s attitude, remarking, “I appreciate your confidence. I am the same. Pay no heed to anyone. Always maintain this self-assurance.”

Oonche Log, released on August 19, 1965, was directed by Phani Majumdar and featured a stellar cast including Raaj Kumar, Asok Kumar, Feroz Khan, KR Vijaya, Kanhaiyalal and Tarun Bose. Produced by Sathyam-Nanjundan under the banner of Chitrakala Studio, the film received acclaim and was honoured as the Second Best Feature Film in Hindi at the 13th National Film Awards.

Aside from Oonche Log, Feroz Khan is remembered for his remarkable contributions to cinema in films like Arzoo, Aurat, Safar, Mela and Kala Sona, among others. His final appearance was in the 2007 film Welcome, directed by Anees Bazmee.
