One of England’s finest all-rounders Andrew Flintoff played 79 Tests, 141 ODIs and seven T20Is. One of his most remarkable performances came against Australia in England’s memorable Ashes triumph in 2005.

Having suffered a deadly car crash in 2022, Andrew “Freddie” Flintoff has now finally returned to acting. The former England cricketer is making a comeback with his latest series, Freddie Flintoff’s Field of Dreams on Tour, airing on BBC2. Flintoff endured facial injuries in a car crash while shooting for Top Gear at Dunsfold Aerodrome in Surrey, in December 2022.

Flintoff even reportedly had to deal with broken ribs. While a lot has so far been reported and speculated about the life-threatening incident, it was later claimed that Flintoff’s pace was as much as 22mph during the accident. Following the harrowing accident, Flintoff was spotted in public for the first time at the start of September while he spent time with England’s U19s team in Wales.

“People talk about this ‘high-speed crash’ but although the consequences were horrendous, it was no such thing. The car was actually going at 22mph when it flipped over. There is a lot of footage and it has been carefully looked at,” a Daily Mail source claimed.

“They had only just set off and were on the first corner when the car flipped and he scraped his face along the tarmac,” the source added.

The traumatic event occurred midway through the shooting of the second season of Freddie Flintoff’s Field of Dreams, which was recently aired on BBC One. The programme also featured a clip in which Flintoff filmed of himself a week and a half after the accident.

“Genuinely should not be here after what happened. This is going to be a long road back and I have only just started and I am struggling already. Got to look at the positive side, I’m still here, I’ve got another chance. I’ve got a go at it… a second go,” Andrew Flintoff said in the clip, as per Sky Sports.

In the first series of Field of Dreams, Andrew Flintoff can be seen returning to his hometown of Preston to form a cricket team of teenagers. The second season shows the team on a tour of India and it started filming before Flintoff’s unfortunate accident.
