BANGALORE: The sleuths of the Fraud and Misappropriation Squad of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) have arrested 13 people including 11 third year nursing students for abetting malpractice. They are accused of helping out second year nursing students, by providing them answer chits, for writing the Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing papers held on Saturday.According to the police, the Karnataka State Nursing Council was conducting the nursing diploma exams and the second year diploma exam for mental health and psychiatric nursing was scheduled on Saturday. The police received information about possible malpractice at the examination that was being conducted at the Ambedkar Medical College on Shampura Main Road. The police went to the college to find some students preparing chits inside a mini bus (KA-43-1485) that belonged to KNN School of Nursing.“The accused had parked the minibus in the college’s premises. The students, inside the bus, had managed to get the question paper of the Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing. They were busy preparing answers for the questions in small chits and they had plans to send it to students who were writing exams inside the college. Later, it was learnt that they got the question paper through Lakshman Murthy, an attendee of the college.” the police explained.The students arrested were reportedly helping out their juniors, who were writing the exams, on the condition that the juniors would help the accused when they write their exams. “The investigations are on to find out whether there is a role of their college management behind the malpractice. We have informed the nursing council about the incident,” the police added.The accused have been identified as Shaalu (21), Akhil (22), Haneef (23), Muni Anjinappa (35), driver of a minibus in which the accused prepated chits, Biju (22), Arun (22), Bineel (22), Jambeel (24), Dileesh (32), Shabin Johi (22), Raghunath (22), Rohith (21), N K Lakshman Murthy (52), an attendee at Dr B R Ambedkar Medical College.The police have seized the question paper, answer chits, guides, the minibus used for malpractice and 11 mobile phones from the accused. A case has been registered in D J Halli police station in this regard and further investigations are on.
